Artist Statement

My work is a reflection on the emotional relationship we have to jewellery, its physical and material presence on the body and the personal sentiments we develop from this exchange/presence. I contemplate the perspective of both the person wearing the work and the piece itself- how each are influencing one another and the transformative nature of the relationship.

The aim of this reciprocal interaction is to develop an emotional connection to the work. I think about how to deepen this connection while seeking to illuminate the visceral reaction that embodies it. Through colour, material, physical movement or representationally through form, I seek to capture the often overlooked or unnoticed physical and emotional interdependence of work and wearer by emphasizing this experience.
